Tyler Hawes

I was born in Walterboro, SC and then I moved to Summerville, SC in the 1st grade where my family still lives. Through my school years I was very active with soccer, playing for numerous clubs, the South Carolina Olympic Development Program team, and my school. When it came time for college I decide to come to Clemson University instead of playing somewhere small. I thought that I might regret the decision but I discovered the world of Cycling. I am currently a Cat 3, soon to be a Cat 2, and for the past 4 years I have been racing all sorts of races. I would like to concentrate on the road this season and develop as a rider while helping my team meet our goals. One highlight of my racing career that stands out in my mine is competing in South Africa’s ABSA Cape-Epic mountain bike stage race last spring where my teammate and I were able to grab some finishes that were near the top of the GC. Outside of cycling, whitewater kayaking is definitely my passion, with a little bit of adventure racing and triathlons mixed in.
